Unavoidable and useful as an orientation point at the city's centre of gravity, but as a 'sight' it's a flat plaza of chain shops, street performers, and pigeons — worth crossing, not lingering in. Its one genuine pleasure is timing: cross it at 8am and it's an empty, monumental space with the Palace and the war memorial to yourself; by afternoon it's a churn of selfie sticks and FlixBus crowds.
