Is Giethoorn Day-Trip worth it solo?

SkipSolo

Solo, give Giethoorn Day-Trip a miss.

Almost impossibly picturesque — gliding a silent boat past thatched farmhouses with no roads is a fairytale on a still morning. But be blunt about the fit: for the average Amsterdam short-tripper this is a hard skip. It's a 1.5–2 hour each-way haul with no direct train, the village is tiny, and by midday in summer it's a queue of tour-group boats. It only rewards two kinds of traveller — those on a longer Netherlands trip with a spare slow day, and those who will get there at dawn before the coaches. Everyone else should spend the day in the city.
