Is Zaanse Schans Day-Trip worth it in a day?

Worth itIn a day

Even on a tight schedule, Zaanse Schans Day-Trip earns the hours.

Allow Half day (3–5 hours).

The easiest, most photogenic way to see real working windmills — a short, cheap train ride. But make the fit call honestly: this is the photogenic easy hit, an open-air museum overrun by coach tours and cheese-and-clog gift shops by midday. If what you actually want is to go inside a working mill without the crush, the Molen van Sloten on the city's western edge is uncrowded, guided, and authentic. Come to Zaanse Schans for the postcard skyline at opening; go to Sloten for the real thing.
