Is Mount Lycabettus worth it in a day?

Worth itIn a day

Even on a tight schedule, Mount Lycabettus earns the hours.

Allow 1–2 hours.

At sunset the payoff is spectacular: the city lights flickering on, the Acropolis glowing, the Saronic Gulf catching the last colour — arguably the best view in Athens. The catch: the funicular is pricey and runs through a dark tunnel with no view, the walk up is a steep sweaty haul, and the summit café charges a premium for the privilege.
