Is Roman Agora & Tower of the Winds worth it for history buffs?
Worth itFor history
For history & culture, Roman Agora & Tower of the Winds delivers.
The octagonal Tower of the Winds is the real reason to stop here: a 1st-century-BC sundial, weathervane and water clock carved with the eight wind gods, and one of the few genuinely intact ancient buildings you can walk right up to in Athens — there's nothing else quite like it in the city. The whole site is a quick, satisfying add-on to a Plaka stroll. The catch: it's compact and quickly walked, and much of it reads fine over the railing for free, so paying in is mostly worth it for getting close to the Tower itself.
