For nature & scenery, Bogatell Beach is hit or miss.
Wider, quieter and better-kept than Barceloneta, with a relaxed local crowd, beach volleyball, chiringuitos and an easy bike path. It's the city-beach sweet spot. The catch: it's still a Mediterranean city beach (not Caribbean sand), it gets packed on summer weekends, and there's little 'sightseeing' beyond sun and swim.
Bogatell is one of the beaches created for the 1992 Olympics northeast of Barceloneta and is generally less crowded and cleaner than Barceloneta beach. · model-knowledge
