Is Flamenco Show (Tablao) worth it for history buffs?
Worth itFor history
For history & culture, Flamenco Show (Tablao) delivers.
Flamenco is Andalusian, not Catalan, so in Barcelona this is an import — but a good tablao still lands hard, putting you close enough to feel the foot-stamping and the singer's rasp. The choice is everything: Los Tarantos on Plaça Reial (the city's oldest tablao, open since 1963, short ~30-minute sets) and the candlelit Palau Dalmases inside a Gothic palace in El Born are the safe bets; the cheap dinner-and-show packages off La Rambla are where quality collapses. The catch: even the good ones are short and priced for visitors.
Flamenco originates in Andalusia rather than Catalonia, but Barcelona has long-running tablaos such as Los Tarantos and El Cordobés on and near La Rambla. · model-knowledge
