Unexpectedly dazzling — rows of gilded, baroque-carved state coaches of jaw-dropping ornament, one of the most-visited museums in the country. The honest catch: it's a single (if spectacular) theme in a somewhat austere modern shed, and 'a museum of carriages' won't sell itself to everyone. A great rainy-day or with-kids add-on in Belém.
