Is LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) worth it with kids?
Worth itWith kids
With kids, LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) works.
After years of construction, LACMA's permanent collection is back: the Peter Zumthor-designed David Geffen Galleries opened in April 2026, a single-level, non-hierarchical sweep of the museum's holdings across 6,000 years and cultures. Pair that with the free, photogenic Urban Light lampposts out front and it's a genuine destination again, not just a special-exhibition stop. The new building's open, one-floor layout is itself divisive — some love the democratic flow, others miss conventional galleries.
