For food & drink, El Rastro Flea Market is hit or miss.
A centuries-old institution and a great window into Sunday Madrid: antiques, junk, leather, vinyl, then tapas and a vermouth in the bars after. The catch is it's only Sundays and holidays, much of the stock is cheap imports, and the crush is intense and a pickpocket's paradise.
