An only-in-Florida thrill — skimming the sawgrass at speed, seeing wild alligators, herons, and the vast 'River of Grass.' The catch: the tourist airboat operators just outside the park (Tamiami Trail) are loud, short, and a bit of a circus with captive-gator shows; the real Everglades National Park experience is quieter and more rewarding but requires more effort.
