The 'steal-your-hat' bend (that's what the Niçois name means) where the Promenade swings hard around the foot of Castle Hill — the one spot in Nice where you feel city, open sea and cliff collide at once, often with real wind off the water. It's distinct from Castle Hill itself: don't treat it as just the lift lobby up to the view. Come for the drama at the bend — the giant rock-cut WWI memorial, the big sundial, and the late-afternoon light raking along the seafront — then ride the free lift up only if you also want the panorama.
